We now need a reliable Communications & Electronics Officer for our Engineering Infrastructure & Operational Support (EIOS) team. Join us in an incredibly varied role that can take you out of the workshop and into Met operations.

This is a chance to work across several engineering subjects and really use your initiative. Your task will be to provide the technology officers need in their work every day. You'll use your expertise to create the best possible solutions and also lead and improve a key technical area, including purchasing processes, and maintenance and support.

We're looking for working knowledge of at least some of the following subjects:

Cisco networking

IT software and hardware

Video and audio standards and compression techniques

Video and audio recording including NVRs and mass storage of data

Video monitoring systems

IP radio

Mobile phone networks (2G, 3G, 4G)

BT services

Optical fibre

GPS

Electrical and electronic principles.

You'll also bring an HNC or degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering subject. Along with this technical expertise, you'll have true team spirit and understand the importance of your work. And as you may be needed on operations, you must have a flexible approach to hours and be willing to join an on-call rota.
