The main purpose of this role is to deliver a stable IT infrastructure and providing a quality support service and to optimise the IT estate for the benefit of the Royal London Group. We are looking for an experience Infrastructure Manager who has experience within managing a Database administration team, or a strong technical engineer within this area who is has a keen interest in moving into a management position. What will you be doing Support for the Infrastructure and services delivered by Service Delivery & Operations. Supports the Leadership team in delivering Infrastructure Technology change Commercial responsibility around contract management Staff management including performance management & development planning (circa 15 employees) Demand management & planning (Run & Change) Resource assignment / escalation Supporting with Recruitment - with the exception of the technical evaluation Incident management Ensuring that repeating incidents have problem records & workaround instructions Problem management (Root cause) Infrastructure Estate maintenance Relationship management within GTC & with the Business Infrastructure Risk & Audit management - owning & actively managing all relevant controls & audit points Ensuring all weaknesses are actively managed Business Service capacity reporting Supporting Infrastructure Disaster Recovery
  What we're looking for Technical experience within working on Database administration or managing this area is essential Service Management (ITIL Foundation required, ITIL Manager preferred) Practical application of ITIL principles in a business environment Experience of Service Management in complex operating models spanning business, several internal IT teams and several outsourced suppliers in one Service Line Experience of the operation of financial businesses Experience of Disaster Recovery planning and management Knowledge of Capacity planning and reporting Experience of staff management (circa 6 as a minimum) Operational and service improvement experience Practical application of ITIL principles in a business environment Excellent people and workload management skills. Experience in a highly operational role with high rates of change Ability to understand complex IT Infrastructure technologies and work closely with IT subject matter experts Ability to translate business objectives into technical requirements and vice versa to a wide ranging audience Experience of demand management between operational support and project delivery Basic Project delivery and governance experience Broad understanding in reviewing commercial contracts and statements of works Operational and service improvement experience
  Skills that will help you in the role Experience with Unix, storage platforms, ESX/virtualisations is highly advantageous Experience with interfacing between technical stakeholders and management level and understand the challenges of the team and managing expectations Excellent personal skills that can be used to effectively interface, mediate, influence and facilitate at all levels. High level of commercial focus, keeping commercial aspects in mind when taking actions and making decisions. High level of conceptual thinking, understanding the underlying issues in complex problems, whilst working under high level pressure and time constraints.
