Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Senior Infrastructure Engineer / VMware / Citrix / Storage / Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire

My client, who are part of a globally recognised engineering group are looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team at their UK head office on the Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire border.

The successful candidate while be responsible for managing IT Infrastructure Services for the UK and other offices and will also lead a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

*Prioritise business critical issues and escalate issues to the appropriate global technical staff.

*Complete assigned tasks and normal duties with limited direct supervision.

*Plan, design, deploy, and upgrade knowledge.

*Develop, publish and adhere to standards, policies, and procedures.

*Maintain network based applications / services.

*Install, configure and support Microsoft operating systems and environments.

*Monitor and support network services for Active Directory and Exchange services

*New server purchases, set up, configuration and installation.

*On-going maintenance, system checks, security set up and support for existing systems.

*Monitor and ensure success of backup processes.

*Actively involved in problem resolution, follow-up, testing, workarounds and equipment suggestions.

*Assist in the inventory of all hardware and software resources.

*Provide remote and on-site technical support and on-call support as needed.

*Facilitate warranty claims and exchanges.

*Perform accurate and timely updates of tickets in the company tracking system.

Skills and Experience required:

*Excellent Windows operating system (Windows 7 & Windows 10)

*Windows Server 2008 R2 /2012 R2 and Server 2016 experience

*Citrix AppCenter / XenApp 6.5 and 7.15LTSB deployment / maintenance experience

*Solid knowledge of VMWare 5.5 and VMWare 6.5 Maintenance / updates / security / HA

*Manage SAN storage such as NetApp / EMC Unity

*File server maintenance and management from a security basis (Shares and file / folder access)

*Solid knowledge of iSCSI and server cluster services

*Good knowledge of NetBackup 7.x and ArcServe UDP 6.x

*General data center environmental requirements for day to day operations

*Proven disaster recovery experience

*Develop and evolve system monitoring and notification processes and actions

*Patch and systems maintenance out of hours

*Team leadership / appraisals / reviews

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established company during an exiting period of change. The salary on offer is £45,000 - £60,000 plus an excellent benefits package including a generous bonus scheme.
