Site Reliability Engineers (On-Premises Hosting) We're hiring Lead and Senior Reliability Engineers with a background in On-Premises Hosting to work on one of the biggest digital transformations in Europe. Here at DWP we're applying the latest digital thinking to the large heritage services that still handle huge volumes of our customer's pension and benefit payments. The department is investing heavily in SRE to maintain and modernise these services. It's a unique challenge. For us, SRE is about applying software engineering principles and practices to the world of service delivery and operations. It's about prioritising reliability over new features, making sure services are stable, secure and available for when our millions of users need them most. You and your role This is an SRE role with a specific focus on On-Premises Hosting. You might be an experienced software engineer, with some helpful consultancy background, able to apply software engineering techniques to solve IT Operations and Infrastructure problems. Or you could already be working in DevOps or SRE, looking for a new challenge with real scale, purpose and complexity. You'll find that here, along with a huge, diverse portfolio of projects and programmes with the power to improve the lives of real people. A hands-on engineering leader, you'll have chance to develop and implement best practice across SRE. You drive continuous improvement, while maintaining application capacity and performance. Scripting to automate and design out failures before they happen, you and your teams will create ultra-scalable, ultra-reliable systems and high quality application code for DWP. Our SRE practice combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. We make sure that our SREs are involved from the initial application idea all the way through the application lifecycle to decommissioning. What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for? DWP operate a Hybrid Cloud Platform incorporating Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure and On Premise Hosting (OPH). In this role we're looking for someone with a background in On-Premises Hosting. VMware - vsphere (6 / 6.5) OVM (Oracle platform) Active Directory Linux Rhel 7 Windows 2012 / 2016 Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Artifactory, Nexus, Nexus Experience with Jenkins / GitLab Experience in Git for code management Experience with Application Insights Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL tools Experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools Experience of Containers/Docker/Kubernetes is not essential but is beneficial You should also have experience with Agile/DevOps delivery methodologies and best practice.
