The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Home Office. We provide information to employers and other organisations in England and Wales (and barring information only in Northern Ireland) so they can make informed recruitment and licensing decisions, especially for employees and volunteers working with vulnerable groups. We also determine whether an individual can take up relevant posts by making decisions about inclusion on a barred list.

DBS has an ambitious strategy over the next three years; embarking on a significant digital transformation programme, changing the way we deliver services to our customers, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the end-to-end service and providing digital channels for customers to support the Government's digital strategy.

We are looking for an experienced business analyst to join the team who is self-motivated, self-managed, talented and enthusiastic; skilled in the identification, articulation and facilitation of user / business and technical needs, using agile methodologies. You will be part of a multi-disciplined digital team, working closely with the Product Owner, User Researchers, Data Analysts and Content Designers to ensure that existing digital products are continuously improved and aligned to Government Digital Service standards, with new products identified, developed and delivered which meet future user needs.

Key accountabilities:

Lead and manage investigations into user journeys, business processes, information flows and data structures

Identify improvements to user journeys and business processes.

Evaluate potential solutions to user problems, considering impact across the business.

Elicit user needs using appropriate agile techniques, taking into account the nature of change and established practices.

Essential:

A recognised practitioner qualification in Business Analysis.

Experience in using and applying agile methodologies.

The candidates need to be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products or an ?applicable alternative.

Desirable:

Experience of working in a culture of continuous delivery and improvement.

An understanding of user experience and user centred design.

Experience of working with Government Digital Service (GDS) Digital by Default Standard.

Experience of using Atlassian suite of products, including JIRA and Confluence.
