Database Developer

EllisKnight are working with a fantastic Global Business and we are looking to a recruit a Database Developer will perform database development work under the direction of the database architect to support enhancements to ERDS and JOAS.

Work includes enhancements to PL/SQL packages, developing ad-hoc queries as requested by the business customers, troubleshooting data problems, investigating performance issues, investigating data load failures, and making changes to the java code for the ERDS java loader. The developer will be responsible for submitting change requests with scripts that DBAs can use to deploy database or data changes in the staging and production tiers.

We are looking for flexible candidates that will be able to work between Reading and Swindon and salary will be dependent on experience.

Responsibilities:Become expert with the ERDS, JOAS, PDASH and other data models and business rules.Acquire expert knowledge in the processes that ERDS uses to support interfacing systems such as ECTA, ACS Pub Center, AI initiatives, ACS Paragon Plus, and Business Objects.Understand relationships between applications within Editorial Systems Group portfolio.Update or create documentation for enhancements and design changes.Facilitate decisions about the design and technology implementationAdditional general responsibilities are included below.Experience:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience with Oracle Database developing packages, procedures, triggers, materialized views, etc.; and thorough knowledge of schemas, roles, privileges, grants, dblinks, DDL vs DML, and SQLExperience with ORACLE XML DB and XQuery are highly desirable.Experience with tools for database-to-OS interaction including ORACLE XML DB, UTL_FILE, DBMS_SCHEDULER, Directory Objects, etc., is highly desirable.MS SQL Server experience is highly desirable.Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members and management. Excellent writing skillsExperience with Microsoft Office Visio, and Microsoft Project, Atlassian Confluence
