Role: Senior Analyst - Natural Gas

ROLE PURPOSEPart of the European Natural Gas Research teamDesign and build European Natural Gas Fundamentals & Analytics tool in Eikon for analysts/traders active in European marketsDesign and develop new methodologies, quantitative models, analysis and commentary that enhance existing or new products and servicesMaintain existing product performance and independent analysis standardsInternally, work with various departments to grow new ideas and expand the scope of existing products

RESPONSIBILITIESBuild and help maintain proprietary forecast models and/or revenue-enhancing products and services. This includes developing methodologies, calculations, and testing and benchmarking proceduresConduct and publish independent research, analysis and ad hoc reports on specific markets as requiredSupport and build strong relationships with clients by attending client meetings and responding to queries regarding market content, analytics, reports and quantitative modelsAttend to ad hoc research requests from internal and external sourcesShare knowledge across the company/train departments on the construction and use of ongoing research projects

TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Science, Engineering or other relevant fieldMinimum of 3 year's experience (either academic or commercial) in analysis, model developmentBeginnerIntermediate level experience with programming softwareSelf-motivated and independent - demonstrated success initiating new ideas for product developmentAbility to synthesize, structure and explain in-depth analysis in an interesting, accessible mannerMust possess strong written and verbal communication skills in order to present at various levels.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degrees: Master's in one or more fields listed in Minimum Qualifications.2+ year's experience of fundamental analysis of European energy marketsExperience with developing fundamental supply-demand models using software such as Matlab or similar platform (e.g., R) for numerical analysis.Fundamental analysis skills especially drivers of price formation and direction, supply & demand, storage

RELATIONSHIPS: INTERNAL / EXTERNALAll internal departments, including, but not limited to Sales, Product Management, IT and Business Development.Regular communication with European gas traders and analysts in the UK and on the Continent.
