Role Summary Octopus Ventures is looking for a Data Analyst to join the team. In this newly-created role, you will play a key part in transforming the business into a much more data-driven organisation and help move us to the next level in terms of our internal reporting and analysis. You'll help the business to understand and improve its knowledge of its data; be able to analyse business procedures and recommend specific types of data that can be used to improve upon them; be responsible for the coordination and management of data quality; and compile relevant reports using this data. You'll have a passion for business intelligence and love finding interesting ways to use and visualize data and get others enthused about it. Key responsibilities include: Review, develop and maintain records management processes and policies. Identify areas to increase efficiency, including setting up and maintaining automated data processes, databases, data collection systems, analytics etc. Produce and track key performance indicators for the Octopus Ventures team Develop and support reporting processes, and prepare reports for internal and external audiences. Monitor, cleanse and audit data quality. Gather, understand and document detailed business requirements for data. Manipulate, analyse and interpret sometimes complex data sets relating to our business, draw valid inferences and present them to key stakeholders as appropriate. Build, maintain and grow a suite of data platform reports (currently Qlikview) to create dashboards, and visualisations, working with other teams across the business as needed. This may include working with data development teams to onboard new data sources for visualization and reporting. Provide sector and competitor benchmarking. Identify, evaluate and implement external services and tools to support the business's objectives. Qualifications Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst  A high level of mathematical ability Good understanding of SQL and basic knowledge in Python The ability to analyse, model and interpret data Ability to see problems as opportunities (taken from our bold value!) and have a logical, creative and proactive approach to solving problems. The ability to plan work and meet deadlines Accuracy and attention to detail  Understanding of data visualisation, and confidence in presenting insights back to key stakeholders, often at a senior level Interpersonal and teamworking skills Written and verbal communication skills Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Information Management, or a related subject involving maths, such as Economics or Data Science preferable.
