We have an existing opportunity for a Technical Specialist to join our Service Delivery & Operations family within the wider Group Technology and Change area in either our Edinburgh or Wilmslow office
The main purpose of this role is to implement, extend and oversee our Azure tenancy.
What will you be doing
Continuous collaboration with Architecture team to assist with the development of the Royal London cloud strategy
With our Azure partner, translation of the cloud strategy and architecture into a highly available and secure technical implementation, in accordance with best practices
Overseeing technically the support provided by our 3rd party Azure support partner
Managing changes, via appropriate change control, for tenancy wide or product wide changes
Playing a lead role with any major outages of the Cloud service(s)
Automating processes required for the management and governance of the cloud service
Supporting junior system administrators
What we're looking for
Extensive experience via day to day oversight of the Azure service
Understanding changes of product and being able to configure it specific to the organisation.
Experience with utilising PowerShell to configure and control the service
Ability to configure bases Azure services via standard "Infrastructure As Code" software e.g. ARM Templates, TerraForm, Ansible etc.
Experience in overseeing the service delivery and supporting colleagues
Ability to automate through a scripting language and experience with script testing approaches is highly advantageous
Strong understanding of core infrastructure areas such as server operating systems, network operations, storage and security
A solid working understanding of networks and how Azure can be affected by differing configurations / workload
Skills that will help you in the role
Experience in setting up and migrating other systems to Azure
Ideally candidates will have experience/comfortable working in an agile environment
An excellent communicator and comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels
Experience of administering Windows or Linux systems
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
Comfortable working independently and within a team environment.
