We have an opportunity for a software development manager working within the Integration Development team that sits within the Iceland IT Department. Reporting to the Head of IT Development. You will support Iceland's immediate application integration needs while working towards Iceland's strategic objectives in this area leveraging the Microsoft Azure landscape as an enabler. This leadership role within the Iceland IT team is responsible for leading a team of 10, made up of integration architects and developers.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the full application development lifecycle in this area. While a proven application development background is essential, there is also a focus on continuous improvement and application support. Experience of developing and supporting mission critical services is essential and an aptitude for fault tolerant application design and execution is hugely desirable. The services provided by this team are in use 24/7 and subject to the highest availability targets.

This is a leadership position within the IT team and there is an expectation that you will demonstrate an understanding of the impact and influence of this role on the broader organisational goals. In line with these management expectations you will also demonstrate strong commercial skills and total cost of ownership will influence appropriate application design and hosting strategies.

This represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced software development manager or team lead to expand their experience of cloud and serverless computing, while also broadening their business management skills

Essential Criteria

Proven track record of application development and delivery in an Agile environment.

At least 5 years proven experience of managing and leading a successful development team.

Proven and extensive experience with the following technology stack

.Net Core 2.1 or above

C#

Azure DevOps (Source control, CI/CD, Agile)

jQuery

Azure SQL Database

Serverless technologies (e.g. Logic Apps, Functions etc.)

Proven implementation experience of integration and messaging patterns

Experience of ESB platforms and associated patterns

Experience of developing and supporting mission critical applications in a retail or FMCG vertical

Demonstrable knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle

Demonstrable experience of hosting and deploying in Microsoft Azure or other prevalent public cloud.

Demonstrable experience of aligning IT and digital strategy to achieve and enable business objectives

Excellent communication skills are essential and applicable at all levels of the organisation.
