Purpose of Position

This role is a Chief System Engineer Role responsible for developing solutions within the LeTACIS domain.

The role will be responsible for defining the technical and service solution offerings within the LeTACIS domain, by exploiting of existing technical assets of the business, and 3rd Party products to provide a pattern based solution across areas of the LeTACIS domain applicable to both UK and export markets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing the whole solution lifecycle through requirements capture, design, integration and demonstration and acceptance. The role will be focused on ensuring we have solutions, which are conformant with the Morpheus architecture, and the architectural principles of open and standards based design.

The Chief Engineer will work with engineering, BD and service teams to ensure deliverables are committed to and delivered on time and to the required quality by the development team.

The successful candidate will manage a multi-disciplined team to deliver outputs that meet customer needs to defined quality standards within agreed timescales and budgets.

Responsibilities

Works with the design team to develop safe, efficient, and effective projects that will fall within the budget.

Provides a solution that is appropriate for the intended use, across the whole lifecycle of the project ensuring that this remains coherent with the architectural approach to deployed CIS.

Negotiates technical elements of subcontracts with vendors and clients to ensure the most cost effective means of reaching the customer's needs.

Defines the strategy, plan and budget for each project.

Coordinates the engineering team, assigning short and long-term goals for successful completion of the project's plans.

Ensures safety and security of the solution during the course of development

Makes sure all projects and undertakings stay on budget and within the projected time schedule.

Manages the engineering team and oversees training of new employees.

Allocates resources effectively including personnel, materials, and time

Education/Experience

Good communicator and able to work co-operatively in a team environment.

Working in a Scrum environment

Excellent Team Management skills with an ability to form teams both internally and externally with customers and suppliers.

Expertise in System Engineering, Integration and Test

Experienced in the use of one or more the following engineering tools or equivalents: IBM DOORS, Rational Quality Manager, Rational Team Concert

Ability to generate well-structured technical documents and manage through a review process to achieve release to committed deadlines.

Key stakeholder engagement, and influencing

Ability to present at progress and system reviews and contribute productively in the team and with external UK MoD and other stakeholders

Experience in major projects within the UK Defence Infrastructure
