Systems Engineer (Hardware)

We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer (Hardware) at our site in Broad Oak.

We are looking for a hardware-focused systems engineer to work within Training Systems Group. You will be supporting project teams who produce and support a number of training simulators used by the Royal Navy for operator, maintainer and warfare team training.

You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including the specification of simulator hardware, the design of hardware installations and technology updates as well as maintenance of reference systems and supporting bids for new business. There will be the occasional need for travel to customer sites (usually UK) to support equipment updates/installations.

This role will provide you with great progression opportunities to develop into a hardware design authority role.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer (Hardware) will involve:

Hardware design

Supporting bid estimates

Maintaining reference systems

 

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Knowledge and experience of the hardware development lifecycle on systems of medium complexity

Experience of designing hardware solutions to meet the requirements

Ability to produce technical specifications

 

Desirable:

Experience and knowledge in Electrical Engineering

Knowledge and experience of specifying and commissioning COTS hardware. This includes cabinets, cabinet design, wiring schedules and power distribution

Knowledge and experience in generation of tailored design, test and installation documentation

Knowledge and experience of business tools, approaches, practices and procedures including the standards for governance and compliance

You will be a strong communicator with the ability to explain technical information and work with internal/external stakeholders and suppliers.
