Work Package Manager

Would you like to be part of a challenging and varied engineering team? We currently have a vaccancy for a Work Package Manager within our Training Systems Group sub-surface project at our site in Broad Oak.

This is a key role within our project teams who design, build and support a number of training simulators used by the Royal Navy for operator, maintainer and warfare team training.

As a Work Package Manager, you will be responsible to the Project Engineering Manager, with line management responsibilities for 5-9 engineers and for ensuring that engineering tasks are delivered to cost and on time.

This role will provide you with opportunities to progress to a Project Engineering Manager role.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Work Package Manager will involve:

Supporting the Project Engineering Manager in the delivery of budgeted tasks, bids, installations and support to the first line delivery teams

Proactively tasking and managing the engineering team to deliver the contracted deliverables to the agreed schedule

Preparing engineering estimates and schedules for review by the Project Engineering Manager and/or other parties such as the Project Manager

Deputising for the Project Engineering Manager as required

 

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Sound knowledge of software and/or systems engineering principles and development lifecycles

Good knowledge of project planning tools such as Microsoft Project

Experience of managing/tasking engineers in a project-based environment

Good problem solver

Desirable:

Sound knowledge of BAE Systems' engineering governance and lifecycle management processes

Knowledge of hardware and electrical engineering principles/issues

Knowledge and understanding of the Naval training domain
