Infrastructure Engineer

Would you like to be part of an team designing exciting IT solutions for customers? We currently have a vacancy for an Infrastructure Engineer within our Training Systems Group at our site in Broad Oak.

You will be supporting our project teams who design, build and support a number of training simulators used by the Royal Navy for operator, maintainer and warfare team training.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will work for the Work Package Manager supporting the project IT infrastructure across the project teams.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to grow your skills and get involved with future systems being designed, gain exposure to new technologies and work with a variety of projects.

 

Your main responsibilities as an Infrastructure Engineer will involve:

Design, articulate and document project networking and IT infrastructure solutions for signoff by the System Design Authority

Undertake detailed functional IT infrastructure solution design.

Implement and test IT infrastructure solutions to be handed over to the rest of the project team for integration

Support project installations at customer and/or third party sites as required within the UK

 

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

A detailed knowledge of IT networking and design of networks, including virtualised networks and subnets, switching and routing.

A detailed knowledge of designing IT systems to meet the required performance.

Knowledge of commissioning Windows and/or Linux based complex systems including server-based architectures.

Desirable:

Knowledge and experience of virtualisation technologies.

Knowledge and experience of integrating and troubleshooting IT systems from multiple suppliers.

You will be self-motivated, with excellent communication skills, and will be able to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be able to support other team members in understanding the infrastructure solutions and be able to brief solutions to internal and external stakeholders in informal and formal review situations; as well as provide management with clear status information to support project and reporting.
