About Us:

At Westminster City Council, we believe in creating a ‘City for All'. Somewhere people are born into a supportive and safe environment. Somewhere they grow and learn throughout their lives. Somewhere they have access to high quality, affordable homes. And somewhere they can build fantastic careers in world-leading industries. This is our vision for the Westminster community. And this is your chance to be part of it.

The Role:

As a Senior Application Support Officer, you'll play a vital role in designing and delivering key software solutions that will ensure our business applications are more effective than ever. By delivering on these projects, you'll vastly improve the digital operations of a leading London authority and take us ever closer to achieving our ambitious ‘City for All' objectives.

You'll be the technical lead role in delivering our business application support systems, in particular Dynamics 365, an environment designed to support a wide variety of customer-facing services. Your work will include investigation and resolution of issues, collaborating with software suppliers and colleagues in areas such as Database Administration, Infrastructure Support and Network Support. You'll also evaluate software updates, manage testing and the installation of upgrades.

Drafting key procedures for applications support and maintaining a body of documentation forms an important part of the role, so written communications skills are naturally essential here. There's also a coaching element to the role, as you'll be required to mentor other members of the team and encourage best practice at all times.

Finally, you'll also be expected to manage business as usual change projects, providing technical resource for larger projects managed elsewhere in the shared ICT service, including configuration, development, unit testing and bringing into support.

About You:

In terms of experience, you'll need a comprehensive understanding of our supported applications including their technical aspects e.g. MS Dynamics 365, Azure and line of business system integrations.

You should take a systematic, analytical approach to all your work but combine this with strong interpersonal skills, as you'll be dealing with a wide range of clients and users. Being able to facilitate collaboration is also key, as creative, innovative thinking is vital to improving our practices.

There aren't any specific minimum qualification standards, although accreditations in Dynamics 365 and ITIL would be useful.

The Council and its partners are committed to achieving diverse shortlists for all vacancies at Band 4 or above to support our desire to increase the number of staff from underrepresented groups in our workforce. If you are from a black, Asian and minority ethnic background (BAME), we invite you to self-declare this to the hiring manager as part of our positive action commitments.

What We Offer:

If you're productive, ambitious, collaborative and enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of Westminster, a true ‘City for All' and a flagship council. This is a one-of-a kind place where different ideas and perspectives are welcome, and your work truly matters. We never stop aiming higher - join us and help shape our city for years to come.
