Test Analyst
The role sits within the Quality Assurance & Test team and is critical to ensuring the quality of code created within the IKM business function based at our site at Broad Oak, Portsmouth. The role engages with internal and external customers to facilitate testing of small projects to larger programmes. This role will provide you with opportunities to further your career and progress within the company.
As a Test Analyst you will be responsible for working closely with the Project and Development Teams to ensure the timely and quality delivery of projects. This is a very hands-on role to test in-house applications by designing, writing and updating test cases and test scripts.
Your key responsibilities will include the timely and accurate completion of manual testing as required including regression, system integration and ad-hoc testing. Completing defect reports and verifying any fixed issues that are complete. This role will require you to think in a logical manner, solving problems employing a methodical approach to your work, with excellent attention to detail.
Your main responsibilities as a Test Analyst will involve:
Contribute to test planning by reviewing functional and non-functional requirements, raising issues and rejecting poor and/or unclear requirements
Write test cases and scripts
Ensure full requirements coverage and traceability within test specifications, including non-functional requirements
Work collaboratively with Development and Delivery teams to understand gaps in testing and ensure any gaps are covered within the test phases and where there are exceptions, raise the risk of impact to the application
Test front end websites and back end systems
Complete security and browser compatibility testing
Recognise and record faults with appropriate diagnostic information in the defect management tool
Contribute to scrum and triage meetings to drive resolution of issues and defects, engaging with relevant teams to ensure these are resolved quickly
Maintain regression test suite
Work within the Quality Assurance and Test function to ensure testing follows best practice and aligns with the agreed QA Strategy
The ability to influence others across the Development and Test functions and champion the need for testing processes, explaining the benefits and justifications
Your skills and qualifications:
Qualified to degree level or equivalent
Certification in ISEB or BCS/ISTQB
Proven test experience performing System, Integration and End to End application testing
Test Automation experience, e.g. jMeter, Selenium, BDD
API testing - web services / RESTful / (using Postman, jMeter etc.)
Experience of working in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban etc.)
SQL experience
