Data scientist urgently required to work on a 12 months contract basis in London for a leading global energy trading company.

The Data Scientist will be working in a systematic trading and fundamental analysis team providing IT tools, data and analysis directly to the traders and trading desk analysts. This role will be using cutting edge technology to analyse large data sets and apply statistics to digital products, providing technical advice and support, and playing a pivotal team role in areas such as modelling energy markets. This role will also be responsible to lead the development of data analysis, data ingestion, and extraction and visualisation tools. The Data Scientist will use the latest auto deployment, testing and monitoring techniques.

The ideal candidate must have;

* MSc or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Operations Research.

* Relevant experience applying cutting-edge technology in the field of data science on large datasets from both machine gathered and human gathered sources.

* Strong technical skills with direct, hands-on experience in the field of statistics.

* An awareness of issues in statistics and dependence on data quality, and the ability to deal with nuances in imperfect datasets.

* Evidence of strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills.

* Experience with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB or R.

* You must have previous experience working within a trading environment.
