Second Line Support Engineer / Service Desk Technician who has experience supporting Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, MS Exchange, Microsoft Office and Office 365 suites that has a deep knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP, LAN / WAN, Switches, Routers etc.) is required for a busy helpdesk with a successful, award-winning IT Support Provider based in Manchester City Centre.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity within a busy Helpdesk for a Second Line Support Engineer / Service Desk Technician who has experience supporting Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, MS Exchange, Microsoft Office and Office 365 suites that has a deep knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP, LAN / WAN, Switches, Routers etc.).

Working as the Second Line Support Engineer / Service Desk Technician you will support clients, assisting them with hardware and software problems via phone and email and through supporting the First Line Engineers, maintaining a high level of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles.

As the Second Line Support Engineer / Service Desk Technician you will also handle escalations from the 1st Line Technicians, taking ownership of User problems and be pro-active when dealing with User issues.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Second Line Support Engineer / Service Desk Technician:

Provide 2nd Line IT support through numerous channels of communication including email, telephone, internal requests from colleagues and actions in response to automated alerts from the in house monitored systems

Ensure the in-house operating systems are fully maintained in an accurate manner on all work received, updated or completed

Escalate relevant and more complex work to Senior Technicians

Customer Builds

Take on ad hoc project work as directed by the IT Helpdesk Manager

Meet Helpdesk KPIs as directed by the IT Helpdesk Manager

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Must have solid experience working within a 1st Line support role

Must have solid experience with supporting Windows, Windows Server, MS Exchange, and Microsoft Office and Office 365 suites

Candidates must have a deep knowledge of networking i.e. TCP/IP, LAN & WAN and their components

An in depth understanding of the needs of SMEs - email, telephony, backup and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) packages such as Sage

A strong personal interest in IT and Computing

Hands on experience in general computing and IT

Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload according to others' needs

Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a diverse team that includes internal and external stakeholders

Excellent customer service and communication skills

High work ethic with the eagerness to continually develop technical skills

Willingness and enthusiasm to continually develop technical skills in line with the needs of the business
