PROJECT ENGINEER

Location: Plymouth

Rate: £30.00 - £40.00/hr (ltd)

Duration: 6 months

Project: 14 Dock Readiness Project

Qualifications HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering related discipline.Currently hold, or able to attain, SC Clearance.

Background

There is a requirement to modify a number of services and structures within the Submarine Refit Centre, in order to provide a sustainable submarine de-fuelling capability in Devonport Dockyard for both the Swiftsure Class (S-Class) and Trafalgar Class (T-Class).

This docking facility will provide the requirements within the overall strategy for the dismantling of 'out of service' nuclear submarines.

Objectives

The key objective of this programme is to safely deliver a reliable and sustainable PWR1 de-fuelling capability where the Senior Project Engineer can coordinate, direct and oversee some of the projects and activities necessary to safely deliver the above outcome to time cost and quality.

The primary purpose of the Project Engineer is to assist the project / package manager in the delivery of project scope. This will include the likes of the following;Support to planning and scheduling of project activities.Management and delivery of distinct controllable tasks / activities.Development of control of work information.Production of Risk Assessments / Method Statements and ensuring that all tasks are undertaken in a safe and appropriate manner.Management / liaison with sub-contracts in support of delivery of contracted works.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering works, e.g. civil works, mechanical or electrical systems / services.A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a project environment.Have effective writing and presentation skills.
