Are you an experienced IT Support professional with excellent IT and team leadership skills?

Do you have a background in IT data centre support with proven experience of supporting large IT estates including server racks, data storage systems, plant computer systems, networks, printers, desktop PCs, laptops, software and video conferencing services?

The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for an IT Support Team Leader to join their team within the CODAS & IT department. The IT Support team consists of 15 employees split into two teams, one providing 24/7 support for central experimental and business IT systems and the other providing day time office IT services consisting of circa 1800 on-site users (plus additional remote users) operating approximately 3000 PCs, laptops and other devices across the Culham site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the shift team supporting the central IT services although they will not be required to work shifts except on rare occasions to provide emergency cover for colleagues.

Key accountabilities/responsibilities include

-Direct line management, staff planning and supervising team workflows of the IT Support Shift team (currently 6 members)
-Ensure service requests from multiple customers are assigned appropriately and progressed to an agreed plan.
-Interface with other support and administration teams.
-Oversee IT hardware procurement and stock management.
-Provide hardware support for computer platforms including PCs, laptops, tablets, servers and storage arrays.
-Develop processes and procedure to assist the support team tasks and activities.
-Produce ITSM knowledge articles to aid support teams and promote user self-service.

Knowledge skills and experience

Essential
-A-level or equivalent (e.g. BTEC, HNC) in an IT or science related subject.
-Extensive experience working within an IT Support environment.
-Proven team leadership and management skills.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows with optional MAC operating systems.
-Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint.
-Good knowledge of PC, laptop, server, storage system and peripheral hardware.
-Good knowledge of wired and wireless networks.
-Experience of using a recognised ITSM application.

Desirable
-Experience of working in a medium sized data centre environment.
-Knowledge of data centre power and cooling systems.
