Java Algorithmic Developer - Algo execution - Investment Bank

Front Office trading / Algorithmic Java developer is required who will have experience of high frequency, low latency enterprise programming environments.

e-Trading, not necessarily pricing/algo specifically (although it would be good, particularly execution algos), but must have a general knowledge of venues/products/mechanics, ideally in FI Rates.

previous experience of dealing with Front Office (ie trading/Quants)

core Java/multi-threading/performance/concurrency

self-starter the role has dual reporting lines into IT and Quants so the candidate needs to be autonomous and able to liaise effectively with both areas and manage their own project.

able to work on a trading floor ie can deal with the background noise and constant interruptions/context switching

Working with dev team and research - big agenda of delivery over next 6 months C/C++ and JNI experience is desirable but not an absolute requirement. Knowledge of ION Marketview and its programming environment would be a plus.

The role involves a migration from an existing bespoke platform to a new implementation (not fully specified), so the candidate will need understand specifically what problems can arise in platform migrations/brown field projects to reduce risk and deliver gradual migration of userbase.

The team is headquartered in London with teams in New York, in Tokyo and Singapore, and Mumbai.

The platform itself is an ecosystem of over 15 distinct, loosely coupled applications covering a wide range of functionality from pricing, quotation, auto-negotiation and execution to market aggregation, virtual markets and auto-hedging.

In Production, the application suite operates under Real Time, low latency constraints, reacting to potentially spiky market conditions.

Backend applications are primarily written in Java, with some C++ exceptions for Windows binding and Legacy, while the multi-purpose client application is written in C#. Tibco RV is currently used as the Middleware between front and Back End, with alternative solutions being introduced where low-latency is paramount.
