The Infrastructure Engineer Role:
You will be part of a team of technical experts delivering, managing and developing managed hosting services 24/7 from infrastructure through to operating systems. As Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting with the technical delivery of all managed hosting customers and product development
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Managing systems to ensure 100% uptime for virtualisation systems
+ Working closely with the team manager to ensure that we maintain 100% uptime for our customers
+ Liaising with internal/external customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues as quickly as possible and with minimum customer impact
+ Maintaining our backups systems which include Avamar Data domain and Cohesity systems
+ Assisting with management of storage systems
+ Assisting with the attainment and retention of relevant industry compliance certification
+ Delivering to meet technical services operational budget
+ Providing input to strategic planning/budgeting exercises
+ Keeping ahead of the market to help ensure managed hosting products are developed and enhanced to maintain market share/leadership
+ As a Subject Matter Expert you may be required to be available as an escalation point
+ You will be part of an On-Call service dependant on your skillset
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
+ VCP5/6 or relevant experience
+ Strong technical background: VMware virtualisation
+ Experience of Avamar. Data domain and Cohesity
+ Strong understanding of the technologies and challenges in growing small/medium virtualization platforms
+ Experience of P2V technologies
+ Experience of managing infrastructure/technical services in a hosted environment
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
+ EMC products including VMAX, VNX, VNX2, xtremIO, Recoverpoint
+ Powershell / PowerCLI Scripting
+ Experience in attaining industry compliance standards
+ Completely familiar with current developments and future trends in managed hosting systems/products
