Purpose
Embarking on a major IT Transformation project to drive change throughout our businesses, we require an Applications Consultant - Analytics to contribute to the development of our IT Strategy and hold responsibility for implementation.
Responsibilities
Working as a senior member of multiple project teams on UK IT projects, the Application Consultant - Analytics will make application design decisions that satisfy both local and global requirements, ensuring our Applications Analysts are familiar with design decisions.
A key part of this role is to create and maintain the models, templates and frameworks that will be used by the rest of the team in the implementation of business requirements. The post-holder will be responsible for working within the framework of our UK IT applications which includes, Data Analysis solutions, Customer Service Digital solutions and other emerging Digital technologies.
As this position operates as part of a global team, periodic travel to Spain and other company locations may be required, including attendance at conferences and external venues to ensure current knowledge of the application landscape.
Skills & Requirements
This is an exciting opportunity for individual with strong experience with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Kafka and/or Hadoop to work in a global retail business.
You will be working with a large Business Intelligence and data team covering all areas of BI architecture, Data Processing, Insights and Analytics.

Skillsets:
Experience of Big Data Technologies: Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Hive, HBase
Experience of Python, Scala, SQL, ETL
Experience of Cloud platforms - Azure
Strong Linux skills
Skilled in business requirements gathering with ability to translate into detailed technical specifications
Experience of modelling data in both relational and Big Data contexts
Experience of different file and data formats (parquet, csv, tsv, json, orc) and their use-cases
Experience of Agile methodologies and practices
Demonstrable experience of writing performant, reliable and maintainable code
Demonstrable experience of using version control systems (git/github)
Extensive experience throughout the software development life cycle
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as minimum:
Progressive experience in software engineering/enterprise architecture/technology leadership across multiple products, systems and/or platforms
Application solutions design experience delivering IT solutions
Experience in Enterprise applications, database, distributed computing, virtualisation and/or application technology
Experience in delivering industrial platforms or horizontal software middleware
Knowledge of technologies and common Packaged Platform/Systems
Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, equivalent industry experience may be considered
What We Offer
This is a permanent contract. Salary for this role will be from £47,600 to £59,500 per annum. Other benefits for this role include a performance related bonus up to 10% and single cover health care.
