Shared Infrastructure (SI) v3 Type 45 &QEC Technical Authority (TA)

Would you like to play a key role in defining how we direct technical decisions? We currently have a vacancy for a Shared Infrastructure (SI) v3 Type 45 &QEC Technical Authority (TA) at our site in New Malden.

As a Shared Infrastructure (SI) v3 Type 45 & QEC Technical Authority (TA), you will be the Leading view of how we direct technical decisions. You will undertake a range of defined engineering activities in line will all relevant processes and quality requirements under the direction of the Senior SDA. This role is focused on defining the technical solution and supporting the development of the SI Solution for they Type 45 and QEC platforms. You will work alongside the other design authorities in the area as well as being involved with human factors, and report directly with the SI design Authority for key decisions.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain exposure across the business with potential for moving to other roles throughout the wider BAE Business.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Shared Infrastructure (SI) v3 Type 45 &QEC Technical Authority (TA) will involve:

Support and prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.

Carry out complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.

Carry out investigations into operational problems or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.

Act as a point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.

Support the identification of business opportunities and the preparation of bids in area(s) of expertise to facilitate the development of the highest quality bids.

Support Product Design Certification activities including Product Safety & Environmental matters.

 

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment

Possesses good knowledge in a number of the following areas:

General Combat Systems experience

System Design

Requirements Analysis

Previous exposure to: Requirements and Acceptance process, Interface Management, Human Factors, System Performance, Networking, Software Development and virtualisation, COTS Hardware, server and blade technology.

Knowledge of the requirements for Product Safety & Environmental matters as captured in the appropriate Project Plans

Knowledge of the Design Certification process

Degree qualified or equivalent work experience
