Do you have expert knowledge for all network components, including Data, Voice and Security?
Are you looking for an opportunity where you can see your input make a real difference as a key contributor to the company's IT delivery?
About the role:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Systems Engineer (Networks) to work on a large-scale acquisition ownership of the IT estate and a 5-year technology refresh. This is a varied role; you will be supported in owning your area of technical expertise and provide technical advice and guidance to the other teams within the IT department. This will involve a good mix of independent working and collaboration with other teams and stakeholders across the business to achieve desired outcomes. Most of our business users are based in the same building, so much of our interaction is direct and face-to-face. Occasional travel to other UK offices will be required.
You will be a Subject Matter Expert for the design, support, and maintenance of Phoenix's local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other networking systems.
Other responsibilities include:
Working as part of a team to provide day to day proactive and reactive support for all of Phoenix's local and wide area network components, and security devices:
Routing (OSPF, BGP, HSRP/VRRP)
Switching (VLANs, ACLs, sFlow, STP, Trunking, MAC Auth etc)
Firewalls (IPSEC VPNs, Proxy services, Anti-Spoofing, IPS/IDS, Natting)
AAA (Radius, MAC Auth, accounting)
Wireless Access Points
Co-ordinating with third party suppliers and vendors to progress issues where applicable.
Providing technical support in a multi-vendor environment (Cisco, Huawei, Checkpoint, ASA's, Forcepoint)
Producing and maintaining technical documentation
Following documented processes within an ITIL and ISO Compliant Environment
Supporting project implementation requirements, both physical installations & configurations
Abiding by Security policy and procedures and implementing security directives from relevant managers from time to time
Ability to troubleshoot and find resolutions to complex technical problems across multiple tiers
Providing out of hours cover as part of an on-call rota and being prepared to carry out, out of hours changes
What we're looking for:
A proactive self-starter who likes to own their professional area of expertise. This will suit someone who can work well both independently and as part of a wider IT team structure.
Experience of working for a large complex organisation. We are a regulated FTSE 250 company, and with an organisation this size there can be plenty of complexities and challenges to consider, both within the business and with our external partners and outsourcers.
Subject Matter Expert for all network components in a multi-tier, multi-vendor network environment (Data, Voice and Security)
Qualifications with Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco, Huawei, Checkpoint, Forcepoint or equivalent Network or Security would be highly desirable
Join the Phoenix Group, and you join a unique organisation. It's not just the 10 million policyholders we serve, or the £240 billion of assets we look after. Or that we've been listed as one of the UK's Top Employers for seven years running. It's the fact we manage predominantly closed life funds in our Heritage business. This means we can focus our innovative thinking and energy into improving outcomes for our existing customers and their customer experience.
But that's not all. We also have an Open business which manufactures and underwrites new products and policies to support people saving for their future in areas such as workplace pensions and SIPPs. We also market corporate pension trustee services and manufacture products to be sold under other brands. Did you know Phoenix Life manufactures SunLife's market leading Guaranteed Over 50's plan?
