5th October 2019Are you an experienced engineer with excellent communication and influencing skills?UKAEA are currently seeking Mechanical Engineers who have experience in one or more of the below areas. As a Mechanical Enginer, you will support projects at all stages from establishing the initial outline requirements, through the design and implementation phases to the verification that the final delivered solution meets the original intent and function required.Experience in one of the below areas is essential: -High Heat Flux Component Design-Magnet System Design - Core Architecture OR Supplementary Magnets-Design EvaluationAt UKAEA we strive to make everyone feel welcome and fully supported. - Ability to perform exploratory design calculations using first principles, with particular expertise in one or more of the following:
o heat transfer
o superconducting magnet systems
o cryogenics
o high temperature materials-Experience with relevant environmental factors such as vacuum and transient magnetic fields.-Demonstrable experience of taking a leading role in teams engaged in an engineering development activity-Experience of interacting with experts across a range of engineering disciplines e.g. systems, mechanical, nuclear, electrical, software, Human Factors (HF), control and analysis-Good working knowledge of structural and thermal engineering, solid mechanics and engineering materials.Desirable
-Good communication and technical writing skills.
-Excellent interpersonal skills.Special requirements:
As part of your role you could be asked to work in radiation-controlled areas or in beryllium-controlled areas. Full training and medical assessments will be provided if this is necessary.Please note all employees working at the UK Atomic Energy Authority will be required to complete an online Disclosure Certificate application as part of their clearance - The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks will show the details of all current criminal convictions (convictions considered unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974) or will confirm that there are no such convictions.Selection Method(s):

-As part of the selection process you may be expected to show that you understand engineering calculation methods and to complete a personality profile either online or onsite.
