JOB SUMMARY:

My client has recently implemented a new student record system (SITS: Vision) named MyTAP, the post holder will play key role in supporting this new system by Tribal. As part of the wider IM&T team the post holder will also support, maintain my client's legacy student systems by maintaining both the core student information systems together with the in-house developed solutions, in line with my clients corporate and business objectives. Taking specific responsibility in supporting SITS: Vision system and meeting various departmental reporting requirements both on a routine and an ad-hoc basis.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST:

To provide a core technical reporting capability within the Directorate of Education and Training. To build, maintain and support the development of a bespoke Business Intelligence product. To provide maintenance, administration and support of the various information systems, which is centralised around the student journey and used by all staff in the directorate as well as colleagues in other teams including the library, communication team, marketing teams, and the finance directorate.

To work closely with the Lead Senior Systems Analyst to ensure that the development and maintenance of systems is in line with the business and operational objectives of the department including ensuring best practice, participating in change control and service management.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT, ADMINISTRATION, MAINTENANCE, AND USER SUPPORT

1.To develop, deliver, and maintain agile software solutions using Microsoft technologies, and provide trainings and support to the team members.

2.To participate in the administration and maintenance of the student's systems, to understand the data flow between the different system modules and carry out technical business analysis.

3.To work closely with colleagues and technical staff on the design, development and maintenance of the in-house software solutions, database design, and systems implementation.

4.Develop knowledge and understating of my client's clinical systems over a period of time, working closely and supporting colleagues managing other clinical systems.

5.Develop and maintain appropriate technical and user documentation and, where relevant, train staff in use of these applications.

6.To conduct system integration testing, user acceptance testing and user training when required. To participate in the testing, configuration and implementation of new systems and data migration processes.

7.To assist the Lead Senior Systems Analyst in the evaluation and redesign of the current in-house solutions, taking into account my client's corporate objectives, relevant policies/strategies, my Clients guidelines and legislation and the views/requirements of core users.

8.To monitor the systems and databases performance, work on enhancing performance and best practices, investigate and resolve system errors reported by users.

9.To develop and maintain secure data links to the Trust's student database system for input and maintenance of up-to-date information in collaboration with external bodies.

10.To ensure high quality data outputs for records management and system housekeeping routines and procedures for all systems are functional, in place, and working and co-ordinate data checks and clean-ups regularly.

Analysis and Reporting

11.To act as the technical lead in the development of comprehensive reporting solutions for data held on the different student databases, utilizing applications such as SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services and other similar solutions.

12.To build, configure, maintain, document, and support the reporting server, dashboard development and the reporting requirements from the different department system modules and databases.

13.To monitor data and provide reports on demand on a regular basis, for example, annual reporting processes, and recruitment reports.

14.To build relationships with business users and work with colleagues within the Department of Education and Training different units (finance, registry, library, communications, marketing, conference unit and course administration) to ensure the information need to be reported is all captured and integrated.

Data security

15.To maintain and develop database user work-groups and user security profiles for use with the student record databases.

16.To ensure the accurate and secure storage of all database data, in line with the Data Protection Act.

17.To develop, implement and maintain a back-up and disaster recovery plan for the system and databases.

Resource management

18.To liaise with the software supplier and university partners for issues relating to the student registry system as required.

19.Liaise with system providers in relation to the Service Level Agreement (SLA), support, maintenance and development of systems software and hardware ensuring the systems run as effectively and securely as possible.
