Job description:
Experience with release management in Amazon Web Services public cloud environments is essential
Experience of working with client developer teams to automate the shut-down and start-up of environments during idle periods in order to reduce AWS costs is essential
Experience of release automation via Jenkins and Red Hat Ansible is highly desirable
Role Description:
Provide a comprehensive overview of AWS-based environment usage linked to relevant releases and release activities (cross-release view)
Identification of potential conflicts arising from limited number of 3rd party environments, analysis of impact and identification of mitigation actions
Liaise with external 3rd Party points of contact for environments management/provisioning
Active management of the environments as per the environments plan, considering demands from delivery, test etc. on an ongoing basis
Provisioning of an up to date log of release versions per environment across all environments including
List of all environments
Release version available on environment
Date by when each release version was made available on the respective environment
Forward plan the release windows and cycles across the client estate from an environments perspective
Manage risks and resolve issues that affect releases as they pertain to the environments
Measure and monitor progress to ensure releases are delivered on time
Co-ordinate release content and effort based on pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
Manage relationships and co-ordinate work across different release partners
Produce Deployment Run Books and Technical Implementation Plans/checklists. Release Manager must also be able execute against all these as well
Communicate release details and schedules to the programme as required
Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
Work with DevOp teams to help develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases
Maintain a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
