Do you have experience of working with HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript and Git related web technologies and their application plus a proven ability to develop websites to the highest level of usability and accessibility? Then join Shelter as a Front End Web Developer and you could soon be playing a vital role within our digital team. It really is a great time to join our growing and evolving cross-functional digital team that spans front and back end development, UX/UI, content production, social media, analytics and more. We already do some brilliant service design work that affects our digital offering, our helpline and our centres around the country. We also have lead responsibility for developing and implementing Shelter's overall digital strategy and making sure best practice is applied to all online activities. And, with a new leadership team working on a fresh organisational strategy, we've recently invested in expanding our capacity to meet the challenges ahead. About the role As a key member of our in-house development team, your main focus will be on a programme of product development to support and enhance our online, telephone and face-to-face services. However, we'll also expect to play your part in helping to keep the code base tidy and readable by all (we perform regular code reviews and you'll have the opportunity to refactor your code). Performing updates, fixes, maintenance and improvements to our online services, helping to ensure that all digital projects are highly usable, assisting less experienced developers and contributing to our digital strategy - you'll do all of this, and more. About you Used to working with HTML5, CSS3 / SASS, JavaScript and Git, because you'll be utilising a headless CMS on a day-to-day basis, hands-on experience of Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment is also preferred. Any exposure to GitFlow, ES6, NPM, React and Gatsby would be useful too, as we use these tools daily, although full training can be provided. What is for certain is that you have a proven ability to develop mobile first responsive sites and are aware of the technical and usability considerations relating to these channels. Benefits We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We're here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
