We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer who is looking to take their first steps towards a team leader position!

You will be responsible for leading the Data and Applications team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring high-quality performance and service to the business; ensuring all Data and Application services support the requirements of the business.

The role?

Lead the Team ensuring all data and application matters are effectively managed on a day-to-day basis, leading by example, setting the standard for the team, acting as technical mentor and advisor where appropriate

Ensure the team adheres to the Incident Management, Service Request, Major Incident, Problem Management and Change Control procedures.

Ensure team performance is good, meeting SLA on Service desk tickets and meeting business needs.

Ensure the team utilise problem analysis techniques to triage, diagnose and rectify problems and queries including and not limited to hardware, software and ODEON's business applications.

To ensure the team adopt high-quality communication practices in the execution of their roles

Set standards for the team to develop and design databases and reports.

Build reporting products that enable business decisions.

Works with the business to define data requirements.

Execute deep dives on data sets to understand their content and build trusted accurate data products.

Create new reports and maintain/enhance existing reports primarily using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.

Test and deploy reports, manage report security and provide documentation.

Create and perform maintenance schedules to keep databases and reports performing to a high standard of availability and uptime within agreed SLA's.

What does it take?

Experience in a similar role

Knowledge of AWS or SQL Azure and supporting databases in this environment.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (written, oral & presentation) using business-friendly and user-friendly language

Ability to write SQL queries and validate query results

Analytical and problem-solving skills for design, creation, and testing

Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Good exposure to creating reports using Tableau

Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (SQL Server ranging from 2005 to 2012).

Migration of databases, manage & perform SQL upgrades and patching schedules.

Ideally Microsoft DBA & SQL qualifications
