Mechanical Design Engineer - contractI'm recruiting for a small engineering consultancy in Barrow-in-Furness who, due to winning a large number of projects, are looking for a contract mechanical design engineer with Inventor experience.Responsibilities include:Provide engineering and design input to customer projects and new product development.Provide engineering support to delivered projects.Assess client enquiries and draft technical proposals.Assist with the tendering process for project bids.Engage with suppliers to source components and materials.Creation of part numbers, 3D CAD models and engineering drawings in Autodesk Inventor.Checking manufacturing drawings and documentation.Performing engineering calculations.Creation of technical documentation and procedures.Performing risk assessments and developing safe working procedures.Complying to and developing quality management system documentation.Complying to engineering standards and regulations.Taking part in site visits to client facilities.Support site commissioning and installation activities at client facilities.Perform and support workshop activities where required.You will have the following experience:Minimum 2 years experience in a mechanical design engineer role.Proficient in Autodesk Inventor but will consider other CAD packages.Experience of working to engineering standards such as API, ISO, MIL, CE, LVD & Machinery Directive.Experienced in high pressure equipment design.Previous experience in oil & gas, aerospace, nuclear or other highly regulated industries.Ability to meet project deadlines and maintain budgets.A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.Confident in making engineering decisions and problem solving.Excellent communication skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office products.Full UK driving license.Experience in subsea, robotics or ATEX design would be advantageous.Workshop or installation experience would be advantageous.Initial 2 month contract but very likely to extend.40hrs a week with overtime available.Interviews are being held next week with a view to start on 27th August.
