CQC is the regulator of Health and Adult Social Care services. The Intelligence unit is an important part of this.  We provide evidence for CQC's regulatory decisions and publications through the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data.

We are developing our use of data science to help us make decisions about the organizations we regulate, as well as inform the evidence which supports our publications.

We now have an opportunity available for an Analyst Team Leader (Data Science) in the Intelligence unit. We are looking for someone who can help us develop new analytical methods to inform our decisions and publications and develop these into operational products.

This is an exciting time to join our team and we look forward to receiving your application!

About the Team

The Data Science Innovation team develops products under CQC's data science programme.

As a team we are also responsible for supporting our data science and GIS capability by training our analysts and supporting the development of our data and IT systems.

We showcase data science products across the organization and help our colleagues understand where data science can bring new insight.

The Role

You will work with analysts, data scientists and product managers to prototype and develop products.

You will lead project teams. You will also provide technical support and mentorship to colleagues working on those and other projects, and you will be a recognized technical leader on data science.

You will help develop the role of data science within CQC and act as an ambassador for data science within CQC and more widely.

We are at the beginning of this work, and this is a good opportunity to be a leader and shape our products, processes, and capabilities in this area.

About You

You will have experience of managing data science projects. You will also have experience in text analytics and machine learning methods.

You will have the ability to work as part of project teams that include analysts, data scientists, architects and engineers, product managers and end users.

You will have strong skills in:

R and RStudio

SQL

ESRI ArcMap products

You will also be able to quickly gain skills in new tools.

Experience with Python and Microsoft PowerBI would also be beneficial.

External Candidate Information

Please provide referee details for a full 3-year employment history on your application along with relevant information to support any gaps in employment. We will not approach your referees without your prior consent.

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications being received across our vacancies we are unable to provide individual feedback at application stage.

We must also inform you that, in line with most government organisations, we do not pay travelling expenses for interviewees.
