Software Engineer

Would you like to be part of the team developing high integrity airborne software products, using cutting edge tools & processes? We currently have a vacancy for a Software Engineer at our site in Warton.

As a Software Engineer, you will be contributing to the further development of our capabilities in Model Based Systems & Software Engineering. You will be working within a team on safety critical vehicle systems and avionics software for systems such as: Fuel, Environmental Control and Displays.

This role will provide you with the chance to develop your software engineering skills in a fast paced highly skilled team. This could lead to career progression as part of the Software & Safety Technology Group.

Your main responsibilities as a Software Engineer will involve:

Contributing to the delivery of a number of software products across a range of platforms

Interfacing with customers

Supporting the development of estimates and scheduling activities as required

Supporting the engineering leads to resolve specific software related issues

Contributing to the development and improvement of software processes

Supporting high integrity software development

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering related subject (or equivalent experience)

Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle

Ability to support a number of concurrent activities including both new and legacy products

Ability to identify and develop new software capabilities required by the business

Good communication skills

Desirable:

Software development experience following a controlled / structured lifecycle

Experience of using some of the following languages: SPARK Ada, Ada, C, C++, Assembler, Scripting Languages

Knowledge of or a willingness to learn Model Based Systems & Software Engineering using tools such as SysML, Mathworks, SCADE etc

Experience of integration and target hardware testing would be advantageous, as would an

interest or knowledge in multi / many core processors and COTS operating system

You will be a strong communicator that is comfortable developing software as part of a team. You will also have a willingness to learn and develop your skills in Model Based Software Engineering, to produce the quality products required in this role.

Salary: £32,660 +
