£40,000 - £45,000 + competitive
Our client based in Central London is currently recruiting for a Cognos Developer who will be working in the data team developing business applications using out of the box components and bespoke configurations. The Cognos developer will also be involved in supporting and enhancing existing applications alongside providing advice and guidance to projects on the potential use of applications, development approaches and tools.
Knowledge
*The development and deployment of business applications using out of the box components and bespoke configurations, with specific regard to integration of 3rd party and in-house components.
*Provision of advice and guidance to less experienced co-workers, including potentially trainees.
*Structured analysis and documentation of business requirements.
*SQL Server Reporting Services.
*Knowledge of data warehouse architectures.
*SQL Server Analysis Services - from an architectural and code level perspective, including MDX.
*Knowledge of BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau etc.
*Development of Restful and/or SOAP services in an SOA environment.
Skills
*Your core skills will be around Reporting and ETL, through either Cognos solutions or Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and Integration Services - having strong experience of both will be an advantage.
*Strong Experience, or relevant transferable skills, in three or more of the following
oSQL Coding in T-SQL
oFull understanding of the MS-SQL stack
oEfficient and conformant Database Design skills
oKnowledge and experience of SQL Optimisation techniques
oSQL Troubleshooting skills - across and within systems
oDeveloping Solutions in Cognos, including Data Manager, Framework Manager and Reports Studio
oExperience of Cognos Administration
oDeveloping Reports in SQL Server Reporting Services
oDeveloping and Managing ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services
*Effective communication skills, able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
*Effective stakeholder management skills, ability to understand business drivers and influence how changes are implemented.
*Ability to work independently and in small teams.
