Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain's railway. From Crossrail, Europe's largest civil engineering project, to investment in world-class stations and major programmes of electrification, we're involved in some of the most ambitious and diverse ventures that this country has ever seen. As the nation's rail network improves, our website and digital services must develop too. A skilled Website Developer, you'll make sure they meet the highest standard for users at Network Rail and across the world.
Network Rail recognise that there are times when you may need to take a break from your profession and that trying to return to work in the same industry after time out can be tough and daunting.  That is why we have created our Property Returner programme and are seeking a Website Developer to join our team.
Open to applicants at all levels and specialisms who have taken a voluntary break from practicing within the industry for 2 or more years, the 24-week programme is intended to bring your industry knowledge and skills back up to speed, whilst supporting you back into the workplace.  The programme will start in October and flexible working can be considered.  This role has the potential to become permanent.
We want you to create innovative technology and solutions that we trust, value and use. Microsites and a website that are based on the highest quality coding. You'll lead the development of these assets in tandem with our Communications team, creating engaging platforms that offer a great customer experience. We'll expect you to define the technical architecture relating to website security and lead the introduction of new features and functionality. What's more, you'll build user interfaces and manage new and existing plug-ins. And as we improve our information systems and create new ones, you'll see that data flows securely, 24/7.
We're looking for a Website Developer with tried and tested skills. You should have practical knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery) and PHP back-end development. You'll also have developed plenty of WordPress websites and built user interfaces. So you'll know how to use debugging tools (Firebug, Chrome Inspector) and turn wireframes into working HTML pages. We're also looking for experience of Microsoft Office 365 for a range of solution technologies, and a proven ability to transform business processes using Office 365, SharePoint or Azure.
The following expertise would also be an advantage:

Azure (Including Azure Logic Apps, Azure B2B Collaboration for external access etc.)
Relevant MCSE Certification in Office 365 or SharePoint.
Strong Office 365 experience with tools for transformations such as PowerApps and Flow.

In return, we offer a rewarding career with competitive pay and excellent benefits. To apply please click the apply button.
Closing date:  12th August 2019.
Network Rail welcomes applications regardless of age, disability, marital status (including civil partnerships), pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, transgender status, sex (or gender), employment status, trade union affiliation, or other irrelevant factor. We will interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria.
