Systems Engineer - Falcon

Would you like to in varied and critical engineering role that assists the Army's and RAF's communications? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer - Falcon at our site in Christchurch.

As a Systems Engineer, you will report to the Project Engineering Manager and Project Technical Authority as applicable. Your responsibilities will include estimation of development activities, design of technical solutions, implementation or subcontract of proposed solutions and the testing involved in verifying them. You will also be required to help in diagnosing and solving customer reported issues.

This role will provide you with a step in to an expanding part of BAE's Business as demand increases there will be opportunities to Lead engineering on new programmes or perform co-ordination roles across the engineering team.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer- Falcon will involve:

Providing Systems Engineering support to business development activities, including study/experimentation activities, system de-risking activities

Development and implementation of technical solutions that meet the customer requirements

Provision of realistic estimates for specified activities to the development lead

Accurately report on progress

Complete work to a high standard and to scope, quality and budget

Support System Integration Activities

 

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Communications technologies: IP networking (including network design), VOIP, Point-to-Point radio links, 4G mobile technologies, network security, network management

Software Operating Systems (Windows Server, Linux, VM Environments)

Understanding of Design Certification and Product Safety Processes

 

Desirable:

Familiarity with Export control and ITAR rules and regulations would be desirable

A good understanding of designing equipment to meet stringent environmental requirements such as EMC, Environmental etc. would be advantageous

You will be a good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will have the willingness to adapt to the variety of engineering task within the project. You will also have excellent innovation and problem-solving skills allowing you to solve some of the complex tasks that arise. It will also be beneficial that you are flexible in your working hours and willing to work off site.

 

Location: Christchurch

Salary: £42,300 + dependent on experience
