Role: Principal EngineerLocation: Model Farm Rd, Cork.Benefits: Salary, pension, healthcare and yearly bonus. Company:My client is a medical device company based in Cork, a forefront company in their field. Principal Engineers Responsibilities:Reporting to the Senior Manager, Product Engineering this person is responsible for managing, planning, designing, coordinating, validating and implementing high technology equipment programs and projects for the manufacture and inspection of IOLs, delivery system and other company surgical products.They will need to identify, research and instigate new projects, which lead to process/ product improvements.This person will also lead projects to move processes from R&D to production and from site to site.They will provide engineering support to manufacturing to maintain high yields and minimize downtime of process equipment. Accountabilities:Act as technical SME and change agent within the Engineering and MS&T functions to ensure the utilisation on best practices in the fields of Project Management, Communications and Stakeholder Management, Process Design, Equipment Selection and Design, Automation Hardware and Software, Metrology and Vendor Management.Program and project management & planning and for liaising with other departments/plants.Reporting project status to management and senior internal and external stakeholders.Managing capital spend on assigned projects.Liaising with R&D and other Alcon facilities to develop and introduce new products and processes.Overseeing the introduction and validating new equipment and/or complex new process projects from design through completion and in compliance with regulatorySupporting and improving existing processes through process characterisation and the application of best engineering practices and principles.Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolvingSkills and attributes required: Knowledge of process engineering, equipment design and automation specificationsKnowledge of Medical Quality Systems, GMP and validation requirements.Well-developed program and project management skillsReport writing expertise and highly developed people skillsKnowledge and/or experience of optics, machine and automation design.Knowledge and/or experience of optical metrologyKnowledge of requirements of machinery directive - i.e. CE marking

Education Minimum: Technical Degree in Engineering, Science, Technology or equivalent disciplinePreferred: Masters/ PhD degree in. Engineering/ Physics or related disciplineExperience:Demonstrated technical aptitude and competency, minimum of 6+ Years' experience in a regulated industry preferably Medical Devices or Pharmaceuticals, Project Management experience on technically, organizationally or financially complex projects, sustained performance Education required: Minimum: Bachelor degree in Engineering/ Physics or related disciplinePreferred: Masters/ PhD degree in.
