Java Software Engineer London to £80k

Java Software Engineer (Java Python Linux SQL). Are you a technologist with a love of problem solving? As a Java Software Engineer you'll join a highly talented team focussing on delivering a wide range of improvements to the current platform due to growth and scalability challenges. You'll act as the point of engineering escalation; troubleshooting platform issues; building tools and scripts to automate tasks, improve business processes and monitor / maintain the production environment, pro-actively identifying potential issues.

This is an intellectually and technically challenging Java Software Engineer position which will involve deep investigation of a range of issues through to resolution; you'll work fairly autonomously to research and identify patterns or causes of issue and create documentation to improve team processes.

Requirements:

Strong Java and / or Python coding skills

Experience of building / debugging software, and analysing application / system log files

Understanding of UNIX / Linux systems and basic sysadmin abilities

Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, FTP)

Understanding of databases both SQL and NoSQL

Comfortable working with low level packet traces to troubleshoot

Understanding of server-side software built out of many interacting components

Collaborative with good communication skills and the desire to continually learn and improve
