Unix Support Analyst

My client, a market leading, global technology company is looking for a passionate Unix Support Analyst to join the team in Birmingham. The role will see you providing BAU Support and will also involve and project work too.

Key responsibilities:

*Action, update and resolve logged support incidents in line with SLA commitments.

*Carry out regular system checks within required timescale.

*Undertake appropriate system housekeeping activities.

*Automate and improve everything you can. Look for root causes and fix them.

*Participate in a rota for out-of-hours support.

*Deploy approved system changes.

*Produce and update support documentation.

*Produce regular reports.

*Management and administration of backup systems.

*Provide support for Business Continuity activities.

*Work to ITIL best practices.

Key technical skills and experience required:

*Experience of Unix system administration

*Experience of Implementation and support of RedHat Enterprise Linux 6/7

*Knowledge of Ubuntu, RedHat Satellite and implementation and support of RedHat OpenStack.

*Knowledge of patching best practices.

*Knowledge of enterprise backup solutions Networker

*Experience of server builds, system security and server hardening.

*Basic shell scripting experience.

*Commitment to delivering a quality service.

*Excellent communicator, able to articulate issues and solutions to customer, third party and internal contacts, both written and verbally.
