A market leading and internationally renowned client of RTRS are currently resourcing for a Product Assurance Engineer (contract) to work on a highly innovative and exciting space focused project.

Product Assurance Engineer (Contract) 

Reports To Product Assurance Group Leader


Key Purpose of Job
To provide proactive and pragmatic Product Assurance engineering support to client project teams.
To provide functional leadership to the Project Product Assurance Engineers.
To ensure that the project is appropriately delivered to the contractual PA plan and project requirements.
Represent client Project Team from a Product Assurance perspective in customer facing and supplier facing milestone reviews, non-conformance review boards and Prime and ESA facing monthly progress meetings Key Tasks
Deploy and lead project allocated Product Assurance resource to ensure successful delivery of the project.
Support/audit projects to ensure that they are delivering to the applicable PA plan and contractual requirements.
Support Prime and ESA facing Product Assurance progress meetings, providing status reports and inputs as required.
Support customer facing milestone reviews (Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Shipment Readiness Reviews, Delivery Readiness Reviews) including generation of PA related documentation, resolution of review item discrepancies and presentation of PA related information.
Support supplier facing milestone reviews (Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Shipment Readiness Reviews, Delivery Readiness Reviews) including review of data packs, submission of review item discrepancies, participation at reviews and supporting the client Procurement and Engineering teams in determining an appropriate review outcome.
Support project teams in management of non-conformances, working with engineers to address and close.
Chair customer facing Major non-conformance review boards and facilitate project teams in effective and appropriate resolution of the issues.
Managing, processing and obtaining client level approval of supplier RFD, RFW and RFA in conjunction with client Engineering.
Support project teams with correct generation, review / release of documentation. Support mandatory inspection points (MIPs) for client / supplier hardware as needed, involving review of documentation, general verification of the build status and overall inspection.
Participation in audits of suppliers to the company as needed.
Facilitate processing approvals of supplier EEE parts and associated parts approval documents with the support of relevant technical experts
Facilitate processing approvals of supplier materials, parts and processes. Technical background and working in an environment in which quality assurance has been a major consideration.
Knowledge in space technologies or similar engineering background in product assurance would be preferable.
Exp in delivering Product Assurance in an ECSS environment
Exp in a project led design and development environment.  
A working understanding of some of the following technologies/disciplines would be an advantage; Analogue / digital electronics / components o RF and / or EMC o Composite Structures o Spacecraft integration / test o Materials
Exp of chairing meetings would be an advantage
Exp of customer facing or supplier facing reviews Knowledge / Skills
Possess the necessary drive and energy to facilitate and motivate project teams and individuals in effectively / efficiently resolving product assurance and quality issues  Ability to apply a pragmatic approach to Product Assurance to ensure the overall best outcome for the success of the project and mission.
Ability to proactively progress work to completion, drawing on inputs from the rest of the project team
Able to work within a pressurised environment
Highly organised; good project/time management skills.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and circumstances
Good written, interpersonal and customer presentation skills. Essential Due to the nature of the project the candidate will need to be a UK National and be able to obtain security clearance at SC level.
