About the Role
NPL is the UK`s National Measurement Institute providing the measurement expertise that underpins UK prosperity and quality of life. We are investing in Data Science to address scientific challenges relating to applications in Advanced Manufacturing, Energy & Environment, and Life Sciences & Health in line with significant organisational growth and transformation plans.
The Data Science team is looking for Data Scientists/Information Architects to bring best practice from software development into the scientific data management and to drive the Scientific Digital Transformation program. You will be developing architectures, protocols and software tools to promote the FAIR principles (making data findable, accessible, inter-operable and reusable) and enable knowledge representation and reasoning across all sectors and research areas.
Based at NPL's Cambridge hub and will require spending several days per month at the main NPL site in Teddington.
NPL Cambridge is based in the Maxwell Centre in the West Cambridge University site. The Centre is a state-of-the-art industry and academia collaboration hub located in the midst of the West Cambridge Site in a pleasant countryside setting within a walking distance of the city centre. The West Site comprises multiple university departments, and provides several cafes, a modern sport centre, and a well-developed cycling and public transport infrastructure.
