The VMWare Engineer Role:

The Deployments team consists of seven deployment/VMWare engineers who work on individual projects, building out infrastructure to customer requirements, leading customer data and/or application migration into the new infrastructure, as required, and ensuring that the new infrastructure is documented and handed over to support appropriately before the end of the project. Learning-wise, the majority of learning will be on-the-job. Where required, formal training and help with certification is provided. Note that, although based in Glasgow, there will be a small amount of travel required from time to time.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Building out infrastructure to customer requirements and keeping customers advised 
+ Managing process of data or application migration into the new infrastructure (as required) so the customer's go-live experience is as smooth as possible 
+ Ensuring that documentation for new or extended infrastructure is created and reviewed with support 
+ Working within project deadlines

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required Essential 

+ Data Centre infrastructure hardware 
+ Windows and Linux Server administration (at server and AD level) 
+ Virtualisation Technology - VMWare etc. 
+ Network configuration - firewalls etc. 
+ Storage configuration and Backups configuration - client, server etc.
+ Infrastructure monitoring Desirable 
+ Linux Administration - HA Proxy and Brocade Virtual Traffic manager 
+ Windows Administration - Active Directory and Group Policy 
+ Virtualisation - VMWare VCP qualification 
+ Backups - Asigra, Zerto, Avamar/Data Domain or Veeam + Networking - Cisco Firewall and/or Switches configuration experience or Cisco CCNA/CCNP qualification 
+ Storage - EMC VNX and/or Dell Equalogic + Monitoring - Nagios implementation
