They say that the average job seeker spends 60 seconds reading a job ad before deciding whether to press 'apply' or 'next', so with that in mind, I wanted to craft something short and sweet that hopefully grabs your attention without you having to read War & Peace!I have partnered up with an innovative tech company in Newcastle upon Tyne who are looking to appoint an experienced Software Delivery Director to own both external client delivery and internal development across the full organisation. The role is hybrid so could also be called 'Head of Software Delivery' or 'Head of Project Management', with the core focus being the management of numerous software development projects across the full SDLC.The role will see you take ownership of a number of complex deliveries, working with a range of stakeholders (Software Engineers, Testers, Designers, Product Owners, Business Analysts) and co-coordinating delivery across the full SDLC. You will be expected to create, define and implement a successful delivery process with an overriding focus on Agile methodologies. Moreover, you will work closely with the c-suite and will report directly into the CEO, giving you unparalleled access to high-level strategy thus making you an integral part of their future roadmap. But enough about them... this, like any good job ad, is all about you and specifically what you need to bring to the table. So rather than copying and pasting the company JD, I wanted to highlight a few of the mandatory requirements that you need to be able to demonstrate...Software Development Projects - First and foremost, you need to have a background delivering software projects (rather than purely infrastructure/networking for example) and the type of software isn't important (e.g. .NET, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Oracle, iOS, Android etc.). You should have experience of software release management/technical delivery and an understanding of the full SDLC. Moreover, previous experience as a Software Developer is hugely beneficial.Delivery Methodologies - Whilst they are an Agile development house, wider experience and a broad understanding of additional delivery methodologies (Waterfall, PRINCE2) is important as they are seeking a well-rounded candidate.Stakeholder Management - You need to be able to demonstrate proven stakeholder management skills (internal and external) as you will be expected to act as a conduit between core technology and the wider business. Proven experience working up to c-level is therefore mandatory.Team Management & Leadership - Finally, it is imperative that you bring proven leadership skills to the table as this role will see you take ownership for a portfolio of work. Ideally, you should have previous experience managing software teams and any experience working as a Development Manager would be a huge bonus. In return for the above, you will be joining an organisation with a genuinely fantastic company culture, commitment to innovation and great work/life balance. I've worked with these guys for a number of years and this is genuinely a fantastic opportunity to get involved in some really cool projects, so if this is something you'd like to hear more about then please contact me via the following:Office Line: 0191 338 7540Mobile: 07943721308Email: [email protected]LinkedIn: 'Liam Haghighat'Anything discussed will remain confidential and fully compliant with GDPR.
