Cloud DevOps engineer Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesThe DevOps Engineer role sits within the Infrastructure & Operations Product Group and is responsible for building and operating AWS cloud infrastructure and applicationsContribute to the development and estimation of stories based on product epicsParticipating in grooming, planning, stand-ups, demonstrations and retrospective ceremoniesDelivering creative, well organized, readable and tested code within the constraints of a continuous integration and delivery environments. Delivering well defined, reusable code for pipeline orchestration and automation and scripting to build dynamic cloud infrastructure components. Providing as part of the build, operational documentation (playbooks, runbooks)Designing and establishing automated tests that validate code and reduce the potential for defects to go unnoticed as stacks develop over time. Completing functional and non-functional (security, performance, resilience, operational) tests for major releasesQuality assuring peer produced code submissions, merge requests and solution architecture documentationEstablishing and operating effective monitoring to maximise performance and health, and participate in the restoration of services during a live incident. Post incident, identifying root causes and preventative measuresDelivering day to day operations including requests, incidents and housekeeping tasksCloud DevOps engineer requirements for Resourcing
The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have experience. 3 years, performing the above accountabilities and responsibilities.
Experience The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have experience, 3 years, of enterprise environments, developing and operating cloud infrastructure and or big data cloud applications.
Qualification The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have 3 associate and 1 professional certification for a senior engineer, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux certification.
Skills The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have strong problem-solving skills in post-incident problem management activities to identify root cause and preventative measures.
Knowledge The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have strong knowledge of collaboration tooling: JIRA, monitoring and logging: Cloudwatch + logs, Knowledge of industry standards and how large organisations architect, develop and operate critical systems with Agile/DevOps.Knowledge The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have strong knowledge of DevOps for AWS cloud infrastructure, DevOps concepts, methods and tooling, agile delivery methods, collaboration tooling with Kanban and Scrum teams, product management, operational service acceptance requirements, ITIL enterprise operations frameworks.SFIA The Cloud DevOps Engineer must be able to operate at SFIA level 3.Experience The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have experience, in using DevOps technologies, Red Hat enterprise Linux 7, Bash/shell scripting, Python, Ruby, datadog. Knowledge The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have strong knowledge of AWS cloud concepts, Infrastructure as code, Native AWS services for compute, storage, networking, messaging, configuration, performance and health. Continuous integration and delivery practices with image and change pipelines, AWS accounts, IAM, secretes, tagging and cost management, service catalogue and self-service concepts. Security and compliance controls and tooling used by regulated enterprises, high availability and resiliency concepts for cloud infrastructure and applications. Knowledge The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have strong knowledge of Cloud Formation or Terraform, Chef, Git, Jenkins, Nexus.Experience The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have expertise in developing AWS Cloud infrastructure code for enterprise architecture.
Experience The Cloud DevOps Engineer must have experience, working within a large-scale, data centre migration programme.
