Coventry - Salary £35,497 - 39,114 plus excellent benefits (enhanced pension, 25 days holiday, plus more)

We are currently recruiting for a UI/UX Designer to join our large public sector client in Coventry to design, deliver and enhance a comprehensive universal joined up, end to end service supporting people throughout England.

The UI/UX designer works with service managers and programme directors to develop design concepts. As a Senior UI/UX designer, you will help set direction and embed good practice within teams. You will make key decisions based on research and understand how this research impacts on others.

Essential skillsCommunicating information - able to communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context. Make complex and technical information and language simple and accessible for non-technical audiences. Able to advocate and communicate what a team does to create trust and authenticity and can respond to challenge.Digital perspective - understands how the digital economy is changing user behaviour and the government landscape. Be able to make informed decisions based on user needs, available technology and value for money. Have knowledge of the wider digital economy and advances in technology.Evidence and context-based design - visualise, articulate, solve complex problems and make evidence-based decisions.Prototyping - able to apply technical knowledge and experience to create or design workable prototypes.Understanding constraints - able to understand and work within given constraints (including technology, policy, regulatory, financial, legal, social user constraints) and to challenge constraints that can be changed. Capable of ensuring product and service compliance.User focus - understands users and their needs based on evidence. Able to translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs and able to engage in in relations with users. Put users first and can manage competing priorities.Prototyping in code - understand the limitations of Internet technology and why code is important. Able to create and validate a dynamic prototype. Understands security, accessibility and version control.Leadership and guidance - interprets vision to lead on decisions. Creates a continually collaborative environment and sustains a good service. Understands and resolves technical disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk. Solves issues and unblocks problems. Manages risks.

Desirable skillsAgile working - is aware of and understands agile methodology and able to apply an agile mindset to all aspects of their work. Able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use.
