The Alan Turing Institute The Alan Turing Institute is the UK's national institute for data science and artificial intelligence. The Institute is named in honour of the scientist Alan Turing and its mission is to make great leaps in data science and artificial intelligence research in order to change the world for the better. The Role This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in a discipline relevant to data science and our core capabilities to work in our Researcher Development and Training team and take an active role in developing and delivering our skills development programmes Duties and Responsibilities The Training Officer will work to ensure that the experience and expectations of academia, industry, learned organisations and government translate into the practical training that the Institute coordinates and delivers. This will include both the in-house provision serving our educational programmes (including but not limited to postgraduate programmes) and contributing to larger scale projects, including leading on the development and delivery of the Turing Internship Network and our contributions to national Centres for Doctoral Training. Person Specification To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. Essential Postgraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to data science / artificial intelligence or equivalent experience Ability to research and summarise a broad range of data skills opportunities and to discern the quality of the resources Work pro-actively, demonstrating a high degree of initiative Ability to analyse data using relevant software packages e.g. R or python Desirable Experience and interest in teaching and learning in higher education and other levels Previous experience of coordinating successful training events or coordinating internship / placement programmes. Understanding of the development needs throughout the post-graduate student life-cycle Term and Conditions This is a fixed-term employment or secondment opportunity from someone from a University Partner for 12 months. The post will be held primarily at the Institute's site at the British Library, Euston Rd, London.
