Now operating through several hundred countries they unite fitness fanatics worldwide.Due to expediential growth they are now setting up a Technology division of the company in London and are building a team of experienced, high calibre individuals in their high-end offices in Victoria.This is an exciting role for a senior Program or Project Director with experience of start-up enterprises to join an inventive company in a challenging Vice President role at a very exciting time in the company's growth.This is an exciting role for a senior Engineering Director from a DFM / DFA background with experience of start-up enterprises to join an inventive company in a challenging Vice President role at a very exciting time in the company's growth.The Role:Overseeing current product lines and engineering functions related to hardware development, including firmware development, electronic design engineering, mechanical design engineering, hardware reliability engineering and tool design and maintenanceEstablishes the overall objectives and initiatives for NPD and sustaining engineering of the Company's hardware maintenance and development activitiesManage the hardware engineering team to ensure accurate, timely and cost effective development and implementation of products including testing and documentation to provide solutions designed for manufacturability and assemblyProvide input and engineering expertise relative to the nature and scope of current and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements. Appraises new product ideas and product or packaging changes. Works with internal and external stakeholders on product enhancements/modifications and new product ideas.Oversees activities to improve existing products from an engineering/design perspective. Analyses product requirements and product development programs. Prepares return on investment analyses as needed. Establishes time schedules with engineering and manufacturing. Advocates for product bug fixes and featuresManage and coordinate with external engineering service providers, certification test laboratories, test and measurement equipment vendors, and contract manufacturersManage and drive manufacturing process and test development, joint-development activities, and intra-company processes between hardware engineering and other groupsProvides high quality technical documentation to the QA, installation and service department to ensure optimal product support and service performanceIndependently troubleshoots, researches and resolves complex problems by analysing hardware and in-game dataWorks with customer insights leadership and occasionally visits customer sites to gather input on product performance and future customer needsResponsible for hiring and provides mentoring and training for engineering department employeesWorks collaboratively, from product kick-offs, with product development teams by providing feedback on design features and product supportabilityReviews technical documentation, certification requirements and engineering procedures for accuracy and completeness The Person:Master's Degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferredTen years' of experience in leading a technical department and/or a hardware engineering teamExperience managing design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA)Demonstrated expertise in sustaining engineering activities to improve product reliability and costDemonstrated experience in a variety of product management concepts, practices and proceduresExperience developing embedded software consumer products for international use preferredExperience with Agile methodology preferredExperience in CAD, SolidWorks preferredUnderstanding of open wireless and wired communication protocols and test requirements for devicesAbility to communicate effectively with a wide audience, both technical and non-technicalExperience in technical standards relating to consumer electronics products providing the product and engineering teams with clear direction on what and how technology can be used during the development and production process. These standards could be generated internally, from best practice or as a result of regulations or third party collaboration standardsExperience in supporting the product and engineering team by developing relevant input to technical requirements, development plans, risk management, verification and validation tests for prototypes and final specification of deviceUnderstanding of open wireless and wired communication protocols and test requirements for devicesStrong knowledge of and proven leadership for a broad engineering team consisting of engineers in firmware, software design, electronics, mechanical design, design & implementation, risk mmanagement, validation, intellectual property
