Head of Finance - Property Controller - LONDON - £500-£600 - 3 monthsHead of Finance - Property Controller - LONDON - £500-£600 - 3 months The work location is in Paddington, LONDON and is a 3 months contract.The pay rate is £500 - £600 per day. The role is working for a well established, multi-national retailer and specialises in clothing, home and luxury product.Ensure the client's accounts for Property transactions, assets and liabilities are correct, strong controls are built and maintained, and the cost structure is efficient for the size and activity of the business.Key accountabilities Responsible for the accounting and controls in Property FinanceBusiness partnering to the Group Property Director and the rest of the property leadership team, to ensure costs are controlled and opportunities for cost saving are exploited.Responsible for reporting all property costs, income, assets and liabilities are reported accurately under IFRS 16Support the budget, forecasting and long term plan processes, owning the property numbers within the broader p&l.Support the wider transformation, including finance projects within it continually seeking to improve our business model and achieve an efficient structure.Build strong relationships with the Clothing & Home and Food Finance Directors and their teams, working closely with them in a matrix structure to ensure that the impact of property decisions on their p&l are understood and agreed.Own the interim and full year statutory accounts process from a property perspective, liaising with auditors and other external stakeholders and ensuring that the year end and half year end are clean and controlledEnsure that the accounting reflects current plans and agent advice, updating on a regular basis to ensure no surprisesWork with the legal team to ensure all leases are captured and the controls in placeSupport the property approval process ensuring that the financial impacts of potential outcomes are correctly modelled under IFRS 16 and tracked vs budget, including cash impacts.Working with the Head of Finance - Commercial Property, to ensure that the financial consequences of the property strategy are fully evaluated and accurately reflected in the Group's financial reporting, annual and long-range financial plans.Lead, develop and motivate a growing team to support delivery of all agreed objectives in a way that is aligned to corporate values.Maintain a risks and opportunities tracker, working with the Property leadership team to recover any risks and highlight opportunities. Also liaise with the Group FP&A team to ensure the position is reflected correctly. Key experience Commercial focussed qualified accountant with at least 8 years PQEExcellent knowledge of IFRS 16 accounting is essentialAble to influence at senior levelMust be comfortable working with IFRS 16 systems (training will be given on ours)Self-starter who can work off own initiativeProperty experience is preferred but not a mustExcellent analytical skills, including extensive investment evaluation experienceAbility to influence both finance and non-finance colleagues at senior levels, including ability to present complex information clearly and simply to senior stakeholders including business unit FDs and Group CFOCommercial awareness and the ability to see the wood for the trees is essentialTeam leadership skills includingCollaborative approach, with natural style that builds strong network with finance colleagues across Clothing and Home, Food and GroupAbility to drive the property finance agenda, including through management and development of team and prioritisation of effortsStrong team player but also happy to work independently on own initiativeWillingness to challenge the current status and an ability to manage change
