Permanent/Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available
SSE IT underpins the technology needs of all the different businesses that make up the SSE group. From emerging technologies to data and analytics to cyber security - we power SSE's growth and enable it to generate value, while keeping it secure. As a trusted business partner that helps SSE lead in a low carbon world, we are proud of our service. Working for SSE IT is all about equipping SSE for now and the future.
You'll serve SSE's Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) business which is responsible for ensuring SSE has the energy supplies it requires to meet the needs of customers from procuring the fuel, selling the power output, providing energy solutions and services to customers and securing value and managing volatility in volume and price through the risk-managed trading of energy-related commodities.
You'll be responsible for the coordination of environment preparation to support test purposes across the full spectrum of technical environments, as well as the preparation and coordination for release to production. You'll also support project timelines and provide a smooth transition through the test environments and into production.
Your Skills and Experience
You'll already have solid experience in either environment or release management, with a good understanding of the other discipline. A qualification to ITIL Foundation is essential, along with demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of the ISO 20000 and the interdependency of the Service Management Process. We would like you to have gained a thorough knowledge of the requirements and benefits of an established IT Environment Management and Release Management capability - ideally in a similar scale organisation. You'll have excellent planning, communication and stakeholder engagement skills as you'll engage with senior stakeholders in managing related risk and providing supporting plans and commitments to enable the portfolio delivery. You must be capable of communicating clearly to both technical and non-technical individuals at all levels of seniority, and persuasive and effective in your approach to foster positive cooperation from all parties involved in implementing IT change. Your ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines and produce quality work under a time-bound environment is crucial.

Above all, safety is at the heart of everything we do at SSE and we live by the mantra 'if it's not safe, we don't do it.
We have an excellent benefits package as part of our offering. Here's a few highlights;
- Generous holiday allowance (you can even buy additional holidays)
- Great share plans
- Group Pension Plan
- One day paid volunteering
- Tailored internal development opportunities
