Head of Architecture & Design

Duration: 12 Months

Day Rate: £500 per day

We are looking for a Head of Architecture with a strong development and digital background to design and develop a roadmap and set direction and vision in line with the company ambitions.

You will have an extensive background in Architectural design and delivery as well as excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities / key skills:

-Approval of all digital and IT developments for conformance with architectural vision including definition and governance of architecture standards and principles

-To lead a team that provides, and also make a significant personal contribution in providing, technical architect expertise and solution design services to major programmes and individual projects to address complex business requirements

-Act as Technical Design Authority, providing technical and solution architect expertise and governance, throughout the lifecycle of project delivery, for major programmes and projects, including where appropriate advice on the management of technical projects

-Lead and manage the Solution Architecture and Design function, ensuring staff are appropriately skilled, trained and motivated to deliver robust and cost effective technical designs and solutions

-Experience with an enterprise architecture framework technique (e.g. Zachman, TOGAF, etc.).

-Experience of delivering complex IT projects that are a combination of hardware and software deployments, system integration, process and procedure definition and training.

-Up-to date knowledge and experience of software engineering tools and development techniques, including working with packages.

-Experience with UML

-Demonstrable experience of leading, or working extensively with, application development and support teams.

-Experience of working with stakeholders in multiple business units or organisations.

-Excellent communications ability particularly communicating technical issues with non-technical staff at all levels.

-Able to communicate with key stakeholders, up to and including Chief Executive level

-Experience in the leadership and delivery of successful technical projects.

-Familiarity with both IT Project Management and Service Management concepts.
